Ndume is an elephant bull that is 26 years old and lives in the Tsavo National Park. When he was just a 3 month old baby he was rescued by the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust.
Over the past few decades they have been responsible for both the rescue and subsequent successful release of over 150 orphaned infant elephants in Kenya. Ndume is however special and the focus of this amazing video.
For years Ndume was only spotted from time to time and this had everyone worried about how well he was doing. This however all changed when in February 2015 he came closer to home and it resulted in an astonishing reunion with his former keepers.
So often the work of great men like these go unnoticed. When something like this happens you can see what it means to them and just once again shows why people talk of a “memory like an elephant”. It is definitely not just an idiom.
